Majeau Lake Natural Area

Majeau Lake NA is a protected area consisting of two OC-parcels and a PNT site under a Grazing Lease. The North-OC section is mostly undisturbed, offering a 1-2 KM walk. It features beautiful scenery but lacks amenities, with an overall visit worth rating of 2 out of 5.

Majeau Lake is a complex of sites made up of two OC parcels and a larger PNT site. The PNT is under a Grazing Lease and requires pre-approval before accessing it.

The North-OC portion is undisturbed save for a gas pipeline right of way running diagonally across the Eastern portion.

  • Is it Worth It and Why Go Here?: Overall (2 out of 5) A cut line runs NW to SE through the Eastern part of the site. This makes for a good 1-2 KM walk. There are other tracks, that might be good for further exploration.
  • Wayne Gretzky Units: 74 KM
  • Trail Classification: Rating: 4; Access: Granted; Develop: Non-Human.; Maint: No Human Interventions. ; Season: All Season: The trail is wide enough for four season travel. It may also be easier in the winter to snowshoe over the undergrowth.

  • The Drive Out: The highways NW of Edmonton are full of pastoral vistas. Highway 33, the Grizzly Trail, is a narrow 2-lane highway but still very much worth driving.
  • The Other Shoe: Hunting and botanical pursuits. The area is wet enough that it likely supports healthy mushroom populations.
