The J.J. Collett Natural Area offers a kid-friendly environment with well-maintained trails and boardwalks. The area is accessible all year, and is located near Lacombe and Ponoka, but only walking is allowed. The area features excellent signage and a poignant memorial.
Continue readingThe Medicine Lodge Hills Natural Area provides a scenic and mostly undisturbed setting ideal for exploration. With sandy soil and mixed forest cover, it is best enjoyed in the fall. The area’s unique topography and limited ATV traffic make it a worthwhile visit.
Continue readingMagee Lake, named after an early settler [1], lies within the Chain Lakes. Nearby Morningside, once home to a mental hospital, now has limited facilities. The area is ideal for a half day walk, botany, bugs, fungus, and dog walking, with options for snowshoeing.
